May 17, 2021 Update: Colorado removes public health order requiring facemasks in most situations. 

The CDC made an important adjustment to mask wearing orders and mandates, and subsequently, Governor Polis and El Paso County have since adopted the same updated mask guidance.  The most recent Colorado Executive Order does not require masks in most corporate settings but it is still highly encouraged for unvaccinated individuals. Given the recent developments, Classic is no longer REQUIRING individuals who have been fully vaccinated to wear a mask in our Corporate offices, our Sales Offices or our Design Studio.  We will continue to practice safe social distancing guidelines in Classic offices and jobsites.  Our construction and customer service team members will continue to wear a face covering when interacting with customers on the jobsite and certainly in customers’ homes. if you are a guest in any Classic environment and would feel more comfortable if our team members wear a facemask during your interaction, we are happy to honor your request and we will have facemasks readily available.

April 15, 2021 Update: El Paso County moves to less COVID-19 restrictions for events and businesses.

As the Colorado COVID-19 dial framework ends April 15, City of Colorado Springs and El Paso County officials will not implement a local dial or any additional restrictions beyond what the state has implemented. Governor Jared Polis has continued the order on social distancing and masks, but has eased restrictions on most indoor businesses’ capacities. Click here to visit the El Paso County Health Department website to learn more about the current public health order, including statewide restrictions effective April 16, 2021.  Classic Homes remains in full compliance with all current health orders and mandatory statewide restrictions.  We thank you in advance for your cooperation when visiting our Model Homes, Design Studio, Corporate Office and construction sites.

February 8, 2021 Update:
El Paso County is currently in Yellow Level on the Colorado COVID-19 Dial as of February 8, 2021 and Governor Polis extended the mandatory statewide mask Executive Order until further notice.  Though increased slightly from Level Orange, the Order continues to mandate limited occupancy in public spaces and requires individuals over the age of 10 years old to wear a face mask or covering when entering, exiting, or moving within any indoor public space.

December 12, 2020 Update:
El Paso County is currently in Safer at Home – Orange Level as of December 13, 2020 and Governor Polis extended the mandatory statewide mask Executive Order until further notice.  The Order mandates limited occupancy in public spaces and requires individuals over the age of 10 years old to wear a face mask or covering when entering, exiting, or moving within any indoor public space. 

November 20, 2020 Update: 
El Paso County is currently in Safer at Home – Red Level as of November 27, 2020 and Governor Polis extended the mandatory statewide mask Executive Order through 12/12/2020 with the potential for further extensions.  The Order requires individuals over the age of 10 years old to wear a face mask or covering when entering, exiting, or moving within any indoor public space.

November 13, 2020 Update: 
El Paso County is currently in Safer at Home – Orange Level as of November 13, 2020 and Governor Polis extended the mandatory statewide mask Executive Order through 12/12/2020 with the potential for further extensions.  The Order requires individuals over the age of 10 years old to wear a face mask or covering when entering, exiting, or moving within any indoor public space. Classic Homes will continue to be in full compliance with this order and will require masks at our model homes, design studio, corporate office and in homes under construction.

October 12, 2020 Update:
Governor Polis extended the mandatory statewide mask Executive Order through 11/12/2020 with the potential for further extensions.  The Order requires individuals over the age of 10 years old to wear a face mask or covering when entering, exiting, or moving within any indoor public space. September 14, 2020 Update:

August 15, 2020 Upate:  
Governor Polis extended the mandatory statewide mask Executive Order through 9/15/2020 with the potential for further extensions.  The Order requires individuals over the age of 10 years old to wear a face mask or covering when entering, exiting, or moving within any indoor public space. Classic Homes will continue to be in full compliance with this order and will require masks at our model homes, design studio, corporate office and in homes under construction.

July 16, 2020 Update: 
As you are likely aware, Governor Polis issued a mandatory statewide mask Executive Order requiring all individuals over the age of 10 years old to wear a face mask or covering when entering, exiting or moving within any public indoor space. The Executive Order is currently in effect for 30 days and may be extended. Classic Homes is in full compliance with this order and the face mask requirement will continue to be in effect at our corporate office, model homes, design studio, customer homes, and on our jobsites.

Under the Order, the following individuals are exempt from wearing a face mask:

• Children under the age of 10 years old.
• People who cannot medically tolerate a face covering.
• Hearing-impaired or otherwise disabled or who are communicating with someone who is hearing impaired or otherwise disabled and where the ability to see the mouth is essential to communication.
• Seated at a food service establishment.
• Exercising alone or with others from the individual’s household, and a face covering would interfere with the activity.
• Receiving a personal service where the temporary removal of the face-covering is necessary to perform the service.
• Entering a business or receiving services and are asked to temporarily remove a face covering for identification purposes.
• Are actively engaged in a public safety role such as law enforcement, firefighters, or emergency medical personnel.
• Officiating at a religious service.
• Giving a speech for broadcast or an audience.

The guidelines of this Order are in addition to the precautions and public health safeguards set forth in “Phase 2 of the Safer at Home” Order, which essentially reinforces the practices that we, at Classic Homes, have been practicing. Understanding that we all must be diligent in doing our part to flatten the COVID-19 curve, Classic Homes is currently operating with various restrictions in place to protect the health and well-being of our customers, employees and trade partners.

Model Homes:

• Our models are staffed and open by appointment for both virtual and in-person meetings.
• Should you choose an in-person appointment, please respect social distancing and limit the number of people who attend scheduled appointments to only those listed on the contract.
• Face masks are required in all indoor spaces.
• You will be required to do an infrared temperature check and complete a sign-in form and waiver at each scheduled appointment.

Design Studio:

• For precautionary purposes, we will continue to meet with you in a predominately virtual meeting environment (phone & email, Facetime, and GoToMeeting web-based meeting platform) until such time we are comfortable and feel it is safe to fully open the showroom for in-person appointments.
• We will continue to conduct first appointments as virtual meetings; second appointments may be held in-person or virtual; all subsequent appointments will be virtual.

As you are aware, Governor Polis recently lifted the Stay in Place Order and implemented the new Safer at Home Order. This Order sets forth various criteria and recommendations for allowing both essential and non-essential businesses to begin the process of reopening for business. The Order essentially reinforces the practices that we, at Classic Homes, have been practicing. Understanding that we must all do our part to flatten the curve, Classic Homes will continue to operate with various restrictions in place to protect the health and well-being of our customers, employees and trade partners.

Design Studio: New Update
• For precautionary purposes, we will continue to meet with you in a predominately virtual meeting environment (phone & email, Facetime, and GoToMeeting web-based meeting platform) until such time we are comfortable and feel it is safe to fully open the showroom for in-person appointments.
• Effective 5/4/2020, we will conduct first appointments as virtual meetings; second appointments may be held in-person or virtual; all subsequent appointments will be virtual. 4/14/2020 Update:
As you are aware, Governor Polis extended the “Stay at Home” Order for Colorado through April 26, 2020. Under the Order, construction and infrastructure continue to be deemed essential business sectors. As such, Classic Homes is operating with various restrictions, prudence and care designed to safeguard all of us.

Design Studio Appointments:

• Effective immediately, customers scheduled for an in-person appointment will be transitioned to a predominately virtual meeting environment such as phone & email, FaceTime or GoToMeeting a web-based meeting platform.
• In addition to your virtual appointments, we will schedule one 15-minute in-person appointment as you near the completion of your interior selections to offer the opportunity for you to personally visit the Design Studio to select carpet and review your final selections. You will be required to wear gloves and a face mask and must complete the attached Sign-in Form and Waiver for this appointment.
• For precautionary purposes, and should the “Stay at Home” Order be extended, future appointments (April 26^th and beyond) will also be scheduled as virtual appointments. Once the Order is lifted, the option for in-person appointments will once again become available.

Model Homes:

• Our models are staffed and open by appointment. Please respect social distancing and limit the number of people who attend scheduled appointments to only those listed on the contract.

A Message to Our Valued Customers Who have a Contract Contingency.

3/26/2020 — Some of you have a contract contingency for a “home to sell”.   We at Classic Homes certainly understand that the current ability to sell your home is severely limited.  For any of you so desiring, we will gladly extend your contingency for an incremental thirty (30) days, while honoring all other provisions of your sales contract, including price.  To obtain this extension please contact your New Home Specialist and they will prepare an appropriate change order.

We hope this simple gesture provides some small measure of relief for those of you who are anxious about keeping your contracted home during these unusual times.   We will revisit the thirty day policy as appropriate as the situation develops.

3/26/2020 — In an attempt to keep you, your family and our employees as safe as possible during these times, we at Classic Homes have determined to remain open in our models by appointment only from March 26, 2020 through April 11, 2020.  Adopting such a policy will allow us to ensure social distancing, reduce and hopefully eliminate overlap of customers and potential customers in our models, and generally limit multi-person interaction in an attempt to do our part to curb the spread of COVID-19.

3/25/2020 — Moments ago Governor Polis entered an Executive Order announcing a “stay in place” law for Colorado.  It goes into effect at 6 am on Thursday, March 26 and runs through April 11.  This law applies to all residents but does exempt critical businesses.

Construction and infrastructure are an exempt business under this order.

Thus, our corporate offices, our models and our Design Studio will remain open at this time.   We are operating with various restrictions, prudence and care at each of these places designed to safeguard all of us, but obviously all interaction carries risk.

To our Valued Customers and Prospective Customers:

• Design Studio Appointments: If you have a scheduled Design Studio appointment, you are allowed to travel to that appointment. We encourage those of you who are comfortable doing so to schedule a “virtual appointment”.  Should you prefer to keep your face-to-face appointment, please know that we ask that you limit the number of people attending the appointment to only the Homeowners listed on the contract.  We will require you to wear gloves and ensure social distancing.  For those of you who are not comfortable with either option, we will allow you to reschedule your appointment until after April 11.

To Our Valued Trade Partners:  You are allowed to continue to work on our houses and our infrastructure projects.  Please take all the steps outlined in my previous communications to you.  Be smart, enforce social distancing, don’t mix your crews, if sharing equipment or tools ensure appropriate sanitation measures are utilized, etc.

Homeowner Communication Update from Doug Stimple, CEO Classic Homes

3/23/2020 — To All of Our Valued Customers:  As we all try to adapt to rapidly changing circumstances, we desire to communicate with greater frequency.  We have been in daily contact with our elected and appointed representatives and officials and are attempting to stay on top of breaking developments.

Early last week, Governor Polis ordered ski areas, bars and restaurants, casinos, movie theaters, gyms and any business that has direct physical contact with customers such as barbers, salons and massage therapists to close.   Late last week, we anticipated the Governor would further impose some form of regulation on businesses in an attempt to “flatten the curve”.

As most of you probably are aware, on Sunday, March 22, Governor Polis issued another executive order.  The order deemed construction and infrastructure development a “critical industry” that is largely exempt from the order.   For “non-critical industries” that are still allowed to work, he ordered businesses to reduce in-person interaction by half, work remotely when possible, stagger shifts and increase enforcement of social distancing.

Although the order does not directly apply to Classic Homes, as a critical industry, we have implemented all of those recommended practices and more over the past week.   We have reduced our corporate presence by more than half, implemented working remotely, put in place staggered shifts for our teams to decrease physical interaction numbers, enforced social distancing and substantially increased our cleaning and disinfectant measures corporately and at our Design Studio and Model Homes, counseled our trade partners to work in compact teams to reduce impact of any potential quarantining of a team so as not to virtually shut down their business if an isolated outbreak occurs, implemented virtual appointments at virtually every stage of the sales and construction processes to require less physical interaction between our team and our customers, among other measures.

We have increased the amount of proactive communication with our trade partners to try to stay ahead of any supply change disruptions.  We are communicating daily with all of the mortgage companies, title companies, lenders and other necessary parties required to conduct a closing of the sale of a home.

We all know this is a very dynamic situation and that circumstances could change at any given point in time.  For now, we are attempting to conduct our business as smoothly and normally as possible, albeit in very unusual circumstances.   Our Model Homes and Design Studio are open and staffed and we anticipate remaining that way until such time as we believe that to be imprudent or unsafe or until we are mandated otherwise.  Our trade partners are open and busy working on completing your home and we do not currently foresee significant obstacles in supply chain management or labor force deployment that will materially impact your home buying timeline or experience.   Should any such problems develop in the future, we will communicate them as quickly as we are able with you and work to develop a resolution that accommodates everyone.

We ask you, our valued customers, to help us in this endeavor to remain open and operating.  Please use the sanitation measures when visiting our Model Homes or the Design Studio, please limit the number of people whom you bring to the Model or Design Studio, please respect social distancing and please inform yourself and your family members on how to protect yourself from COVID-19.  Please click here to view and share commonly known practices and tips from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC).

I mentioned that we are developing and implementing new processes and procedures to meet our changing environment and minimize unnecessary contact.  Here are a few simple questions to help you and our team decide the safest process to follow:

1. Have you traveled outside the U.S. or to/ from a highly infected region in the past 21 days?
2. Have you been in contact with anyone diagnosed with COVID-19 in the past 21 days?
3. Are you a first responder? If you are, we sincerely thank you for your courage and service in these difficult times.
4. Are you displaying any symptoms of the COVID-19 virus? These are dry cough, body aches, fever, difficulty breathing.

If you answered NO to all these questions, our team is quite comfortable continuing with our normal orientation, scheduling and closing procedures.  You always have the option of requesting a “virtual plan” if you are most comfortable with that process.  If you answered YES to any of these questions, please contact your sales counselor and we will develop a virtual plan that works for everyone involved.  The final closing of your home will likely need to be handled in person or by a representative of your choice.

We also know that this situation is going to affect many of us in unique ways.  For example, some of our customers may have already been in contact with infected individuals and are now in quarantine.  If that is your situation, we ask that you let us know as soon as possible and we will work with you to identify appropriate solutions.  We recognize that some of our customers or family may contract the virus and this will present another set of challenges.  We pledge to tackle each case individually and work with each of our homeowners in an attempt to find an appropriate solution and resolution.

Classic Homes, our employees, our trade partners, our local economy and each of you have a tremendous stake in completing your new home purchase.   We intend to move forward with minimal service and business interruptions and we will engage in unprecedented and extraordinary steps to continue “business as usual”.   Please know we place the health, safety and welfare of your family, our associates and our employees first, so if certain disruptions should occur we ask for each and every one of us to extend some grace and understanding as we all work through this together.

3/16/2020 — At Classic Homes, we care about the health and safety of our customers and team members. With that thought, we want you to know a few things as we all continue to monitor the situation surrounding COVID-19. There is a lot of information about COVID-19 in circulation, Classic Homes is closely monitoring the situation and referencing local and state public health agencies and the official Center for Disease Control (CDC) website for the most accurate up to date information about COVID-19 at https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/index.html

As always, our Model Homes, Design Studio and Corporate Offices are thoroughly cleaned and disinfected on a regular basis. In fact, in light of recent events, we have increased the frequency of cleaning. Our team members have always practiced frequent hand washing and we also have hand sanitizer available at each location. We are following the recommendation of the CDC as it pertains to handshakes. Please don’t be offended if we don’t offer to shake hands when our Customer Service Representatives visit your home or when you visit our Models and Design Studio. Handshakes will be replaced with air waves, virtual high-fives, and elbow bumps.

While we are passionate about building homes and creating community, if you know us, you know that the comfort, health and safety of our customers and team members is our number one priority. For customers who prefer to browse our homes from the comfort of their home, our online and onsite New Home Specialists are available 7-days a week to provide guidance in your new home search. We also have thousands of photos and 3D virtual tours of our homes, electronic brochures of all of our floorplans, base pricing, inventory homes under construction, and interactive maps available on Classic Homes website at www.ClassicHomes.com.

Product Shortages
While we have not experienced any product shortages or delays in the building of your new home due to COVID-19, it is possible that there could be interruptions to the material supply chain (lights, hardware, floor coverings, for example). We have been in constant communication with our suppliers and vendors regarding enough supplies and/or alternatives. In the case that a product becomes unavailable we will take one of the following steps:

• Contact you and arrange for an alternative selection of an equal or better product. This could apply to items such as countertops, flooring, hardware, lights, appliances, and so on.
• Install a temporary product that will be replaced at a future date. This could apply to lights, appliances, and so on.

We have made efforts to secure your initial selections (if you have finalized them) and will do everything we can to ensure you get your original choices. In the event we need to reselect we ask for your understanding under these extraordinary circumstances.

Construction Delays
The Coronavirus situation will continue to evolve, and circumstances could change rapidly. However, for now we are moving forward with all construction as planned. Most of our field staff and trades work in small groups based on the stage of the home so we do not anticipate major changes to our schedules. We will keep you informed of unavoidable changes, if any, as this unfolds.

It is our intent and preference to continue operating in a business as usual environment, unless the CDC and/or local and state public health agencies instruct us to do otherwise. We will remain diligent in our approach to stay on top of any workforce or labor concerns and/or possible supply chain management disruptions that could arise. We ask for your grace and understanding while we all go through this unfortunate period together.
