What’s the best part about building a new home? Many of our customers feel it’s the Classic Design Studio experience. Why? Because working with a professional design specialist in choosing colors, materials, and fixtures gives you a chance to bring some of your own creativity to the building process.
Want a truly personalized look and feel to your home? The Classic Design Studio is the place to make it happen. Our state-of-the-art gallery is stocked with an inspiring selection of fixtures and finishes for every room in the house, and our design specialist will help you make the best choices possible for a stunning new home.
Our Home Collections
All-time Favorites for the All-American Lifestyle
Everything about building a Classic home is special and all of our homes start with some pretty spectacular standard features that lay the foundation for the design and construction of your new home.
Before you begin your Design Studio experience, please make yourself familiar with the fixtures and finishes included with every Classic floorplan. Each of our flooplans belongs to what we call a Collection. The Collection represents not only the style of home you are building, but also the finishes that are included with each or our single-family ranch and 2-story floorplans. The Renaissance Collection applies to the finishes in our traditional alley-load ranch and 2-story plans. The Legends Collection refers to finishes you’ll find in our attached paired patio ranch plans. The Midtown Collection represents five specific 2-story and 3-story home designs. The Townhome Collection is our newest collection of 2-story attached townhomes. Once you understand what standard features come with your floorplan, you’re ready to begin your option wish list, and it’s also the ideal way to get a better understanding of the quality materials that go into the construction of your home, right from the start!
Our Interior Selections Guidebook
A Sneak Peek at What’s to Come
As you begin planning for the interior look and style of your new home, you’ll want to consider your lifestyle needs and personal style every step of the way. What type of flooring makes sense for your needs, do you prefer carpet or hardwood? What color scheme and light fixtures will best complement your new living room? Do you prefer formica, granite or quartz for your countertops?
Within the first week of signing your purchase agreement with Classic, you will be contacted by a member of our Design Studio team to schedule your Design Studio appointments. Your first appointment will be scheduled as a virtual appointment to be conducted by phone or online web meeting software. Your second appointment will be in person at the Design Studio
As you browse through our Interior Selections Guidebook, you’ll be walked through the “feature selection process”, so that you will have a better understanding of the Studio’s resources and how best to use them. The Guidebook will start your journey in making a Classic house into your home.
Doing Your “Homework”
Studying Options and Upgrades on Your Own Time
You will soon be ready to begin making the design choices that bring a unique personality to your finished home. Wondering whether certain patterns or color schemes will come together with your floorplan? Whether one fixture might suit your needs better than another in your home’s interior design? Studying your Design Studio Option Price Book will help you evaluate your “needs and wants” and how they fit within your budget.
The Design Process
Completing Your Design Selections in Three Easy Steps
It isn’t always easy to get it right the first time. That’s why your Design Consultant will meet with you on two separate occasions before you’re asked to finalize your choices.
The first appointment—“Getting Familiar with Your Home; The Essentials”—will take place within 4-6 weeks from the date of your contract. The second (and third, if needed) will take place within 6-8 weeks from the date of your contract — this is the point where we apply “the finishing touches” to your interior selections.
By the time you’ve completed your final appointment (within 60 days from the date of contract), the last of your design decisions and options should be formally locked in place and passed along to your Sales and Construction team, who’ll then incorporate them into the final documents for your new home start package.
Living with Your Choices
Making the Time to Make the Right Decisions
Occasionally, people tell us they are too busy to attend their Design Studio appointments. Or that they don’t have the skills to make the “right” design decisions. If you’re one of those people, we’d ask you put those thoughts aside, and join us anyway. Why? Because whether or not you want to believe it, your vision, and your voice in your home’s construction, is indispensable.
Homebuilding is a team endeavor, and no one’s opinion is more important in this process than your own. So when you meet with your Design Consultant, rest easy. We’ll promise to use your time wisely, treat you respectfully, and deliver quality results that make the whole team proud.
There’s No Making Up Lost Time
The Design Studio selection process is an exciting and involved process where we will work together to personalize your new home. It is best to plan ahead, and use your resources wisely. Here are a few rules of thumb that will help speed the process along…
First of all, expect the selection process to take anywhere from 4-8 business hours. This may sound excessive, but our estimates—based on a long, well-documented history of home sales—prove it to be an accurate timeline in the case of most customers.
Second, we will break your selection-days into 2 hour increments.
Third, be aware that evening and Saturday appointments fill quickly, and as such, may not be available to all customers. If you’re interested in an evening or Saturday appointment, make your appointment request known early to our Design Studio scheduler. It is important to keep in mind, that Classic Homes allows for a maximum of 60 days from the date of contract for each customer to complete Design Studio selections.
Fourth, this process requires your full undivided attention. Please make arrangements for child care and pet care. The Studio is a not a child friendly environment and pets are not allowed.
*Appointment Notice: Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, your first Design Studio appointment will be conduced in a virtual environment. The second appointment can be held in person or virtually. Should you need a third appointment to finalize your design selections, your Design Coordinator will recommend whether that appointment should be in-person or virtual. Virtual appointments will be hosted via GoToMeeting, phone or Facetime.
