First permit to rebuild Parkside home lost to the Waldo Canyon Fire

The first permit to rebuild a home that was lost to the Waldo Canyon Fire in the Parkside neighborhood was issued by the Pikes Peak Regional Building Department yesterday. The permit, issued to Elite Properties of America (Classic Homes), is to rebuild the home located at 2523 Hot Springs Court in the Parkside community. “This is great news,” said Bob Cutter, chairman and president of Colorado Springs Together (CST), the not-for-profit organization founded to serve as a catalyst for the restoration and rebuilding process across the Mountain Shadows neighborhood. “Parkside was hit particularly hard by the fire but we knew it would come back; the property owners are o...

The Mountain Shadows Rebuild Process Begins.
Less than one month after start of the Waldo Canyon Fire, the Boyd family who lost their home to the fire that blazed through the Mountain Shadows community has begun the rebuild process at their lot on Yankton Place, naming Classic Homes as their choice builder. On July 25th (coincidentally the Boyd’s fourth wedding anniversary), the couple became the first residents of Mountain Shadows to begin building a new home on their lot. With demolition and cleanup already in progress, Classic Homes has plans to begin work on the new foundation the week of July 30th. The Rebuild Team at Classic Homes appreciates the significance of the building permit for the Boyd’s family home as the first step in moving forward. “Classic Homes in pleased to be in a position to help our community begin to focus on rebuilding and healing.” stated Doug Stimple, CEO of Classic Homes.
